Environmental Impact Assessment Unit


The Environmental Impact Assessment Unit is responsible for implementation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process under the National Environmental Act. The EIA for development project is a major regulatory and planning tool utilized by the CEA for management and sustainable utilization of natural resource base of Sri Lanka.


Main Functions of the Unit


1.    Implementation of the EIA process and ensuring compliance monitoring


2.    Conducting  EIA training programmes


3.    Streamlining the EIA process
