Legal Unit

Details

Legal Unit enforces the National Environmental Act No. 47 of 1980 as amended for the environmental management and protection of the country.

Functions

• Conducting litigation process against violations of provisions of the National Environemtal Act (NEA)

• Coordinating and corresponding with the Attorney General’s Department and other Government institutions on legal matters

• Preparing Policy Papers for NEA amendments and drafting Regulations to be published under the NEA

• Attending and organizing Public Awareness Programmes and Media Programmes on legal matters

• Advising other Divisions of the CEA regarding legal issues.
