The CEA conducted a raid on Polythene lunch sheet manufacturing industry in Piliyandala

Based on information received to the CEA, the Investigation Unit jointly with the Police Special Unit and Consumer Affairs Authority conducted a raid on a polythene lunch sheet manufacturing industry in Madapatha, Piliyandala on 27thThursday, August 2020 in Piliyandala police area.

    During the raid, the company was engaged in manufacturing polythene lunch sheets using Low density polythene and calcium carbonate. The industry was being operated with three extruder machines (15 HP each) four cutting machines (0.5 HP each) and the manufactured polythene lunch sheets was supposed to be delivered to Colombo market for wholesale to buyers in island wide.
    The company was operated under the authority of an Environmental Protection License obtained from the CEA and a trade License issued by Urban Council.

    The produced stock of lunch sheets 1.5 tons which is worth of one Rs. Million, were seized by the CAA and will be produced to Kesbewa Magistrate’s Courts.
