The Water Quality Monitoring Laboratory organized a workshop to streamline of all laboratory activities of CEA Water Quality Monitoring laboratories around the country on 24th January 2020 at the Auditorium, CEA.
This workshop was targeted to gather information and disseminated knowledge on water quality monitoring interconnected to the National Environment Act (NEA). It is also described and aware both laboratory activities and administrative functions related to the laboratory division. During this program the American Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and wastewater (APHA book) were distributed to all nine laboratories.
About 50 officers, including Mr. K.H. Muthukudaarachchi, (Deputy Director General, Environmental Pollution Control Division, Mrs. T. W. A. W. Wijesinghe (Director - Laboratory Services), representatives from nine provincial offices and Gampaha District office, Chemists, and Laboratory assistants participated in this program.
The workshop objectives were briefed by Mr. K.H. Muthukudaarachchi, Deputy Director General, EPC-CEA. Ms. Wasantha Wijesinghe (Director- Laboratory Services) described the responsibilities of laboratory personals. A technical session was carried out by Mr. Aruna Wijesinghe (Chemist) on Quality control and quality assurance related to the laboratory analysis. Another technical session on procedure of equipment handling, calibration, maintaining of inventory and good laboratory practices was delivered by Ms. Nisansala Bopage, (Chemist).
Group Discussion was carried out to collect the ideas and identify the problems regarding the water quality monitoring and laboratory management around all provincials at the end of the program.
