During the Nallur festive season, which was started from 16th August 2018, the Central Environmental Authority collaborative with the Jaffna Municipal Council conducted a polythene/ plastic usage reduction program.
Under this program several activities were organized by the Northern Province Office of CEA. With the aid of Environmental Police Unit, all the permanent and temporary shops based in the town area were inspected for the banned polythene products. Collaborate with the Cargills Pvt. Ltd, cloth bag exchanging program with the general public is also another activity of this program. With the support of the Dettol Pvt.Ltd a set of waste segregation bins was provided to the Jaffna Municipal Council.
Apart from that, many awareness programs were conducted during the festive season. With the support of the many parties the program was successfully concluded.
