The Central Environmental Authority and the Environmental Police Unit were able to capture the banned polythene manufacturing industry in a raid conducted at Madapatha area in Piliyandala.
According to information received from the public, CEA carried out this emergency raid at night on 22nd of March and they were able to seize this industry at the time of manufacturing banned polythene products.
At the same time the samples were chemically tested and it was discovered that they had produced non biodegradable products. Accordingly, the polythene samples were taken into custody and the Central Environment Authority will take legal action against the industrialist.
The Central Environmental Authority continues to operate to provide the punishable offenders before courts through day and night raids on the production, sale and use of banned polythene.
