National Environmental Information Centre (NEIC) of the Central Environmental Authority is the National Focal Point for the dissemination of environmental information in Sri Lanka.
The objectives of the centre are as follows |

Create and develop collections of environmental information sources which would satisfy the information needs of all categories of information users.

Coordinate the collection of environmental information and information sources by networking and through cooperative programmes.

To provide library, documentation and information services.

Establish links with international and regional environmental information systems for the acquisition and dissemination of information and documents relating to the environment.

The center functions as the National focal point of INFOTERRA. INFOTERRA is the Global Environmental Information Exchange Network of the United Nations Environment Programme. The network operates through a system of government-designated national focal points which at present numbers 198. The primary function of each center is to provide access to national environmental information collections and distribution services. |
