     Environmental Impact Assessment in Sri Lanka
 
     
 
A major regulatory and planning tool utilized by the CEA for management and sustainable utilization of natural resource base of Sri Lanka is the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedure for projects. The Environmental Impact Assessment Unit is responsible for implementation of the EIA procedure under the National Environmental Act.
